I recently took the COPDTrec program. This program was an eye-opener for me. It gave a unique appreciation of how patients with COPD suffer and how, as a practicing pharmacist, I can help them manage their condition. I found the course gave me the teaching and communicating tools to interact with the patients. I also very much appreciated the learning environment created by the facilitators. It encouraged sharing among the health care providers from each profession, contributing their own areas of expertise for the well being of the patient. I know I can make a difference. I recently took the COPD Management course after completing AsthmaTrec in 2004. I had been working with COPD clients over the years as well as those with asthma, and felt myself to be fairly aware of the differences between asthma and COPD. I was completely and pleasantly surprised by the additional knowledge that I gained from this program that I can now pass on to my clients. I have a great working knowledge of pathophysiology, assessment, available treatment options and teaching strategies that I did not possess prior.
